Earlier on Saturday, the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Alipore ordered that all the accused would remain in police custody till Nov 6.

This person has a strong political background in the area,” said an officer. Stating that they have collected the clipping across several social media, cops stated that they are now sending letters to various platforms to ensure that this video is not shared. The police have also warned that those sharing the clip will face legal consequences, with cases registered against them under the IT Act. Cops have decided to also examine the role of two other relatives who were on call with the accused when the incident was being played exactly eight days ago. “We are ascertaining if a close relative of the accused, who was in north India at that time, had instigated the accused to act in the manner they did. The defence lawyers argued, “While in police custody, the investigators committed a similar act themselves. They made the accused walk around the area bare-chested and in shorts. In this case, the police behaved no differently from the offenders.”
