MUMBAI: A 15-year-old school student died by suicide at her home in Kandivali East on Sunday. Police said they were informed at 1.53am that the teenager had hanged herself at her home in a high-rise building in Thakur Village. Her family took her to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali, where doctors declared her dead at 2.22am. The girl was a Class 10 student at a suburban school.

Samta Nagar police recorded the statement of the girl’s father, who said the family had no complaints. The teenager’s body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Police are making inquiries to ascertain why she took the drastic step and whether she was under any academic stress. Samta Nagar police have registered an accidental death entry.
