Tolanakere lake park is crying for attention
With that arrangement ending, HDMC is seeking an experienced operator to maintain the 32-acre park and its amenities.
Officials said a fresh tender will be floated to ensure wider participation. Visitors also pointed to damaged pavers and uneven walking tracks, which they said were caused by vehicle movement within the premises. Following the park’s inauguration, a local agency managed the facility for three years. A recent tender attracted only one bidder and was subsequently cancelled. Residents have called for stricter monitoring and better maintenance of pathways and public facilities.
Sources said Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA and deputy leader of opposition in the assembly, Arvind Bellad, had expressed dissatisfaction with maintenance standards and advised HDMC to appoint an experienced operator. HDMC commissioner Rudresh Ghali said a fresh tender would be floated after only one agency participated in the earlier process. “Before handing over the park to the new operator, it will be put in order,” he said.
