Madurai: Tenkasi district DVAC officials arrested the village administrative officer (VAO) of Vengadampatti, Chermapandian, on Tuesday on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from Thamotharan for taking action on his petition seeking patta. Similarly, Theni DVAC officials arrested a VAO for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for taking action on a petition seeking patta. In a separate incident on Monday, Virudhunagar district DVAC officials arrested Tangedco assistant engineer of Veeracholan village, Ramamoorthy, for accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from Pichaimuthu for taking action on his petition seeking an increase in the electricity load.
