Two people, including the suspected shooter, were killed after an incident at a Citibank office complex in Brandon.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said authorities believed it was a targeted incident and confirmed that the suspect was dead. CNN reported that the second person was also killed in the incident.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to an “active threat” at the Citibank Center and were clearing the buildings. People in the area said they received public safety alerts on their phones warning of an “active shooter” and asking them to shelter in place. In a statement to CNN, Citi said it was aware of an incident affecting its Tampa site and was coordinating with law enforcement.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone else was injured.
