Kochi : Perumbavoor police have begun investigation into the death of a three-year-old child of a migrant woman on suspicion that the child was murdered. The child died around noon while undergoing treatment. The stepfather of the child took him to the hospital on Thursday morning, claiming that he sustained injuries after falling from the roof of the house.

The police said that prima facie investigation indicated that it was not an accidental death. Detailed autopsy findings are awaited before further action, the police said. The police found bruises on the child’s face during the inquest and questioned the child’s stepfather. He is learnt to have reiterated to the police that the child was injured in the fall.
