Gorakhpur : BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Thursday accused opposition parties of making baseless allegations against constitutional institutions such as the Election Commission despite failing to stand with people in times of distress.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath , BJP national general secretary and UP assembly election in-charge Vinod Tawde , and the party’s UP co-incharge Megha Kulkarni were also present.
Earlier, after a day of meetings at Annexe Bhawan, Nabin arrived at the Hindi Bazar residence of state BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary late Wednesday for a dinner. Nabin also visited the residences of Nishad Party chief and cabinet minister Sanjay Nishad and BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan on Thursday as part of his engagements in Gorakhpur.
Addressing an intellectuals’ meet, he said the opposition was absent when objections could be filed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, but was now staging protests from Ramlila grounds to mislead the public.
