The child’s father, Pradeep Das, 26, of Mukthapur and middleman Jadu Gogoi, 39, of Golaghat, Assam , have been shifted to Peermade sub jail. The mother, Shima Das, 28, has been lodged at the Kottayam women’s jail. The couple, who had been working in Kanjikuzhi in Idukki, are accused of attempting to sell the baby for Rs 2.5 lakh.

The child would be produced before the child welfare committee in Thodupuzha, the police said. The middleman arrested in the case has also been remanded. The police arrested them following a tip-off. The couple have three children. The older children are under the care of their aunt in Assam.
