Satej Patil, a Congress MLC who leads the Samavichari Aghadi of 13 directors, speaking in Mumbai, announced that while the legal fight will continue, he will hit the streets and hold a massive rally in Kolhapur on Nov 9.

“The govt is attempting to bring an ordinance which will be effective retrospectively so that the mandate given by the 5.5 lakh farmers is subverted,” said Patil.

He was referring to the recent election at the dairy in which the Samavichari Aghadi panel backed by Congress MLC Satej Patil won 13 director posts and the panel backed by the ruling Mahayuti won 12 posts. Minister for medical education and NCP leader Hasan Mushrif said that Gokul has unique bylaws as per which 14 directors are required to remain present for the meeting and no one side has the number. Speaking in Nagpur, Fadnavis said nobody secured a majority in Gokul and therefore the quorum required for the meeting to elect the chairperson was not being met. “The meeting had to be cancelled twice due to a lack of quorum. If the meeting had been cancelled for the third time due to a lack of quorum, the election itself would have been cancelled.

Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the Gokul dairy election with 4,500 voters was not a “national issue” for Gandhi to get involved. The decision was taken only after obtaining the opinion of the Advocate General,” said the CM. None of the defeated candidates including my son Navid will be given backdoor entry, or anyone related to any political party,” said Mushrif.

Gandhi, in a post on X, stated that milk producers had defeated BJP in Gokul poll. This has led to a tussle over the election to the chairperson’s post. That is why the government took the decision. Some people say this decision will not stand in court, while others say it will. “There is a deadlock in Gokul dairy. The govt aims to bring an end to the deadlock which govt can only do. Four expert directors will be appointed.

Kolhapur : Congress MP and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday called out Maharashtra govt over its decision to appoint members to Gokul dairy with the right to vote amid the ongoing tussle over the chairperson election.

Therefore, the govt has intervened to avoid the administrator rule.

Minister of health and Shiv Sena leader Prakash Abitkar, speaking in Solapur, said, “For the first time, the technical glitch has come to the fore. It is welcome if both sides come together and govern for next five years. Our directors are also experienced; they are connected well with the milk producers and other stakeholders.”
