Their Kansas City property soon became a major renovation project, with nearly $400,000 spent transforming the house. Patrick and Brittany purchased their first shared home in February 2019, shortly after the quarterback established himself as one of the NFL’s biggest young stars. The couple paid approximately $1.925 million for the property in Kansas City’s Sunset Hill neighbourhood. Built in 1953, the ranch-style house covered nearly 4,800 square feet and sat on approximately 1.4 acres of land. They decided to make it their own, investing nearly $400,000 in renovations. The Chiefs quarterback had a dedicated space for his sneaker collection, which reportedly reached around 180 pairs. They listed the Kansas City home for $2.9 million, around $1 million above their original purchase price.

They updated its interiors and created spaces that suited their everyday routines.

“This is the first house either of us ever owned,” the quarterback said during the renovation walkthrough. “That has been something that I’ve wanted for the last six, seven years at least,” Mahomes said while discussing the shoe room. Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes had more than a football career to build when they bought their first home together. The couple wanted a place that reflected their personalities, interests and plans for the future. From a dedicated room for Patrick’s growing sneaker collection to a backyard designed for relaxation and entertainment, the home offered a glimpse into their private world. Years later, the property would become another notable chapter in the couple’s growing real estate journey. However, the couple wanted more than an attractive property. Mahomes shared a glimpse of the transformation during a video walkthrough, reflecting on the importance of the purchase. The renovation gave the couple an opportunity to personalise their first home. For Brittany, it was also the beginning of building a family home as their relationship progressed. The property featured three bedrooms, four bathrooms, an open living area, hardwood floors, a fireplace and a sunroom. Its outdoor facilities added another layer of luxury, with a heated swimming pool, hot tub, fire pit and putting green. A five-car garage completed the impressive setup. One room, however, reflected Patrick’s personality more than anything else. Mahomes had wanted a proper display area for years. Rather than keeping his shoes tucked away in ordinary cupboards, he wanted shelves that allowed him to see and enjoy his collection. The renovation gave his hobby a permanent place inside the house. It also showed how the couple balanced practical living with personal interests. A buyer emerged in less than two weeks, although the final sale price was not publicly disclosed. The couple later settled into a much larger Missouri estate, marking a significant change from their first shared home. Still, the renovated Kansas City property remains an interesting reminder of their early years together, when a growing NFL career and a shared home were just beginning to take shape.
