Idukki : The Idukki third additional district and sessions court has sentenced two men to five years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 each for trespassing into a house and attempting to murder a woman by assaulting her. The verdict was delivered 13 years after the incident.
Judge S S Seena convicted Shais, 44, of Ozhukkayil House at Mankuva in Konnathady, and Jayesh alias Chanthu, 38, of Plachery House at Munitandu in Mannamkandam, Adimali. The incident took place at a house in Pipeline area of Vellathooval village under Kunchithanny around 2am on April 24, 2013.
The accused trespassed into the house and attacked the woman, a homemaker, while she was asleep in bed, according to the prosecution. The assault was allegedly carried out with the intention of killing her.
Adimali police registered a case and launched an investigation. The probe was led by the then Adimali Inspector K Jinadevan. A chargesheet was subsequently filed against the accused. After considering the evidence and witness statements produced by the prosecution during the trial, the court found both accused guilty and sentenced them to jail. Download the TOI App.
