Hyderabad: Bajaj General Insurance Limited, formerly Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, has rolled out a health insurance policy that covers pet dogs and cats as family members under one integrated plan – My Family Complete.
The plan offers sum insured options from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 5 crore, with tenures of up to five years. It covers adults from 18, dependent children aged three months to 30 years, and pet dogs or cats from three months, with no upper age limit for pets. The policy provides unlimited reinstatement of the sum insured, cumulative bonuses up to 100%, cataract treatment cover and convalescence benefits.
The pet-focused features include advertising and reward reimbursement if a pet is lost, emergency pet accommodation during the pet parent’s hospitalisation, and third-party liability cover for injury, death or property damage caused by an insured pet. The insurer said it is India’s first family health cover to combine protection for people and pets, replacing separate policies with a single framework. Bajaj General Insurance managing director & CEO Dr Tapan Singhel said the company had rolled out the unique cover as pets are no longer companions but are becoming part of the family.
