Agra : The traffic police here on Friday announced road diversions ahead of the third Monday of Shravan on Aug 17, when thousands of devotees are expected to visit Kailash temple for a religious fair. The traffic restrictions will come into effect from 4pm on Aug 16 and remain in place until the event concludes.
On NH-19, movement of heavy vehicles will be restricted on the stretch between Rapairu Jat southern bypass and Kuberpur cut. Within the city, no vehicle movement will be allowed from NH-19 Kailash Mod towards Kailash temple. From 4am on Aug 17 until the completion of jalabhishek and other rituals, four-wheelers and heavy vehicles will face restrictions on routes leading to Prithvinath and Rajeshwar temples. DCP (city) Sayed Ali Abbas said, “No-entry restrictions for the city will remain in force during the night of Aug 16 and 17. This year, the first Monday of Shravan fell on Aug 3 and the second on Aug 10, while the last will be observed on Aug 24.

Heavy vehicles entering Agra from Delhi will be diverted by Mathura Police from Township Chowki towards Gokul barrage and then to the Yamuna Expressway and other alternative routes. Vehicles coming from Hathras will be diverted via Sikandra Rao or Sadabad towards Mathura. Trucks and other heavy vehicles to Firozabad, Mathura, Gwalior and Jaipur will be routed through the Inner Ring Road, Yamuna Expressway and other designated diversion routes. Traffic on several routes around Sikandra crossing will also be diverted. Existing no-entry passes and permits issued for the affected period will also stand cancelled.
