Mumbai: A 28-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after the two-wheeler skidded and he hit his head on a divider on Lokhandwala Back Road at Andheri West recently. Local activists pointed out that construction debris spilled on the road by trucks made it particularly risky for two-wheelers.

The crash occurred on the evening of Aug 21.
He was riding a bike and was moving behind a car when the two-wheeler skidded and he hit his head on the road divider, according to Sayyed’s brother. “Redevelopment and construction work is going on extensively on the Back Road and the stretch is covered with mud,” his brother said. “Just last week we had posted two videos online on how construction trucks leave behind mud and debris on the road, making it dangerous for two-wheelers,” said Karan Jotwani of Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizens Association in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “We want to request the local MLA and corporator to intervene and stop this… the norms must be followed and action must be taken against trucks leaving behind construction debris on roads,” Jotwani said.
Hamid Sayyed, the victim, lived at Oshiwara. He added that motorcyclists should wear helmets and adhere to speed limits. He was rushed to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital where he passed away on Tuesday.
