Samsung is all set to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, where the company will unveil the next generation Galaxy Z series foldable smartphones. Now ahed of the launch, the South Korean smartphone maker has announced the launch of Flex Titanium technology for its upcoming Galaxy foldable devices. Built on seven generations of foldable innovation, the redesigned display structure enhances durability and reduces crease visibility, delivering a more refined foldable experience.
The titanium-alloy film, positioned below the OLED panel, offers 20 times greater mechanical stiffness compared to polymer film, while remaining exceptionally thin. As per the company, Flex Titanium integrates two titanium components — a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate — to balance slimness, flexibility, and strength. The titanium plate beneath the display module provides robust support and flexibility, enabling repeated folding without compromising durability. Kyung-Jin Yoo, EVP and head of mobile display product development team, Samsung Display, added: “By introducing sophisticated micro-patterned holes to the folding section of the titanium plate, we have successfully secured flexibility with robust durability. Combining high-resolution display architecture with new organic materials that maximize power efficiency, we will further strengthen the competitiveness of next-generation Galaxy foldable devices. ”
