Mumbai: Following the severe flash floods in Nepal, Maharashtra’s relief and rehabilitation minister, Girish Mahajan, announced on Thursday that district collectors across the state are now responsible for auditing all travelers from their areas. This measure aims to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in light of the ongoing crisis in the neighboring country.
“It is estimated that more than 80 tourists and devotees from Maharashtra are stranded in the flood situation in Nepal, and so far four of them have been contacted. The others have not been contacted yet. Some tourists from the state have gone for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, but their number is not clear. Out of them, one family from Jalgaon has been contacted. The helpline set up by the Disaster Management Authority for the information of citizens stranded in Nepal has not yet received information about the citizens who went to Nepal for tourism. In this context, all the district collectors in the state have been instructed to collect information about the tourists who went to Nepal from their respective areas,” Mahajan stated.
