European royal houses may have popularised the tiara culture, but Morocco has an exquisite, though far less popular, iconic jewellery collection in its royal family. The tiara collection comprises intricate designs and artistic creations that showcase the unique speciality of European craftsmanship alongside the attractive features of Moroccan traditions. What makes them even more interesting? They are not often seen in public.

The tiara that Lalla Meryem donned during her wedding to Fuad Filali in 1984 was a gift from King Hassan II. She received a beautiful gold and diamond tiara designed by Chaumet from King Hassan II as a wedding gift when she married Khalid Bouchentouf in 1987.
There are matching earrings and a necklace said to have been made by Chaumet. This tiara comprised many diamond elements arranged in tall vertical shapes as well as an arch and pairs of diamond drops. Before the introduction of Lalla Salma’s contemporary Meander Tiara, Princess Lalla Meryem enjoyed her own dazzling diamond experience.
Lalla Salma wore the tiara at her wedding to King Mohammed VI in 2002. It is supposed to be an antique Chaumet tiara dating from approximately 1910 and purchased by the king before his marriage. This diamond tiara has an impressive shape with a geometric meander design of diamonds set in pavé and a big round-cut diamond in the middle.
