He died on the spot due to the high impact of the collision between the two vehicles The bus was heading from Ahmedabad to Latur. The passenger who died had boarded the bus from Vaijapur and was sitting inside the driver’s cabin.
The accident occurred around 5.30am when the Ahmedabad-Latur bus crashed into the container from behind. Investigating officer Ganesh Goraksh, of the Vaijapur police station, said the speeding bus apparently lost control before the collision.
Police said all the injured passengers were discharged from hospital by Monday evening. An offence will be registered after recording the complaint of the deceased passenger’s relatives, officials said. The deceased has been identified as Hemantkumar Dabhade, a Vaijapur resident employed in Waluj MIDC. Police, highway patrol and Samruddhi expressway control room teams went to the spot and, with the help of local residents, rescued the injured passengers. They were shifted to the sub-district hospital in Vaijapur and Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
