Hyderabad: Telangana has secured a total of ₹599 crore in central incentives for achieving key milestones under the Centre’s AgriStack programme, with the state receiving a fresh approval of ₹175 crore for implementing an AgriStack-based fertiliser distribution system, agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said on Monday.
The latest tranche of ₹175 crore was approved after the state completed the first milestone in implementing an AgriStack-based fertiliser distribution system. In a letter issued on Aug 31, the Union ministry of agriculture and farmers welfare stated that Telangana had fulfilled the prescribed norms and conditions, making it eligible for the incentive under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) 2026-27 scheme. The Centre had earlier sanctioned ₹424 crore to Telangana for completing the farmer registry, another key component of AgriStack. With the latest approval, the total incentives sanctioned to the state for AgriStack-related milestones have risen to ₹599 crore. Under SASCI, the Centre has earmarked ₹13,000 crore for digital public infrastructure for agriculture and AgriStack. Of this, ₹10,000 crore has been allocated for AgriStack-enabled priority use cases, including ₹5,000 crore specifically for AgriStack-based fertiliser distribution systems.

Tummala said the latest approval reflects Telangana’s progress in adopting digital agriculture initiatives and implementing key AgriStack components. AgriStack is a digital agriculture framework that creates a verified digital database of farmers by linking their details with land and crop information. The platform is designed to help govts deliver and monitor agricultural schemes and services more efficiently using authenticated data. As part of the fertiliser distribution component, farmer records will be digitally linked with fertiliser transactions, enabling better tracking of distribution and improving transparency in the supply chain.
