Director SGPGI Prof RK Dhiman released a souvenir commemorating the foundation day of General Hospital.

Lucknow: General Hospital at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) marked 42 years of service on Monday, with the institute celebrating its 42nd foundation day. Former staff and contributors were felicitated, and director Prof R K Dhiman released a souvenir to commemorate the occasion.

Nodal officer Dr Anju Rani said the General Hospital holds a special place in SGPGIMS history for delivering some of the earliest clinical services. Serving and former staff attended the programme, sharing memories of the hospital’s early years and its growth alongside the expanding institute. The first general surgical and gynaecological procedures of the institute were performed at the facility. Over time, key clinical disciplines, including general medicine, surgery, paediatrics and neurosurgery, developed around these services. As SGPGIMS expanded, several super speciality departments shifted to the main building. Despite the transition, the General Hospital has continued to provide broad-based care to patients. The hospital is currently supported by specialists in obstetrics and gynaecology, surgery, dermatology, medicine and paediatrics, along with senior and junior residents.
