The movement of ministerial convoys and large number of four-wheelers used by BJP office-bearers and other attendees led to traffic congestion on the roads around the junction for over 40 minutes. A few traffic disruptions were also reported in other city areas throughout the day as various convoys moved to and fro.

The function continued for around five hours, the police said. Senior officers, however, said the snarls lasted “a few minutes”. Patil said the large number of vehicles arriving to the venue also contributed to the congestion. These vehicles took time to enter the premises, which caused traffic congestion for a few minutes,” he said. Police said the traffic movement was restored after the ministerial convoys and vehicles of the attendees moved through the area.

“Many people reached the venue in four-wheelers. Pune: Vehicular movement on arterial city thoroughfares, including Bajirao Road, Shankarsheth Road and Satara Road, was disrupted on Monday morning as chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, several ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearers were in town to attend a party function.
