Pune: Three unidentified men allegedly intercepted a 23-year-old truck driver, assaulted him and forced him to return to the company where he had picked up a consignment to unload the goods there. The incident took place around 4.30pm on Saturday. The police have registered a case against the trio under sections 126 (wrongful restraint), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

An officer from the South Mahalunge MIDC police said the complainant works as a driver for a transport operator. He regularly picks up goods from an electrical company at Nanekarwadi in his light commercial vehicle (LCV) and transports them to the company’s godown in Moshi. The driver later reached home and informed the transport operator about the incident. Download the TOI App.
The driver approached the South Mahalunge MIDC police on Sunday and lodged a complaint.
The officer said according to the driver, the trio claimed that they charged Rs20,000 per vehicle to let it operate.
“Two men from the SUV and the motorcycle rider allegedly beat and abused him,” the officer said. He said the SUV followed him until he entered the gates and left only after he unloaded the goods,” the officer said. They forced him to return to the company and unload the goods there. “The terrified driver returned to the company premises.
On Saturday evening, while he was driving towards Moshi, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle allegedly forced him to stop at Moi village.
