The incident occurred near Amber Tower in Sarkhej on Monday afternoon when AMC sanitary sub-inspector Nitin Solanki (45) was accompanying colleagues after they had caught a dog near the Sarkhej Roza cemetery. His team carries out vaccination, sterilisation and dog-catching operations under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023.

Ahmedabad: An Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) employee was allegedly threatened with a knife and abused by a man who objected to civic staff taking away his unregistered pet dog, police said. Solanki works with the AMC’s Cattle Nuisance Control Department (CNCD) at Jamalpur, according to the complaint filed with Sarkhej police. Saiyed, who was travelling behind the AMC vehicle, called the police control room. Following this, Solanki, Saiyed and other staff members went to Sarkhej police station. Sarkhej police registered a complaint and began investigation.
