Delhi Police denies permission for Diljit Dosanjh concert over security concerns

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

New Delhi: Delhi Police has denied permission for singer Diljit Dosanjh ’s Aura India Tour concert, scheduled to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Oct 30, citing specific threat inputs and security concerns amid the festive season.

Police have also been handling protests that began earlier this month, with around 200 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) deployed to assist in maintaining law and order and securing key locations across the capital. Dosanjh had previously performed at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in 2024. Police sources confirmed the development, saying the decision was taken in view of security requirements and ongoing deployment commitments across the capital.

The decision comes as Delhi Police manages extensive security arrangements across the city, including crowd management and deployments for festivals and other public events. When asked whether previous threats or disruptions at the singer’s concerts had influenced the decision, police declined to comment.
