In Bulandshahr, a 25-year-old woman and her brother-in-law were taken into custody on Wednesday. They are accused of murdering her 28-year-old husband. Authorities report that the couple allegedly strangled the man and then hung his body from a ceiling hook to stage the scene as a suicide. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Police said Kajal and Umesh, 22, were allegedly in a relationship and that Sumit had learnt about it.
The accused also allegedly believed that Sumit’s death would enable Kajal to gain control of the family property, which could later be shared with Umesh, police said. An investigation was underway to establish the alleged conspiracy and the circumstances surrounding the death, police said. Kajal allegedly feared that he would confront them or disclose their relationship, following which she conspired with Umesh to kill him. Both accused were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
Police said the incident took place on Monday in Khetalpur Bhansoli village under Kotwali Dehat police station, and was allegedly planned after the woman’s relationship with her husband’s younger brother came to light. Police arrested Umesh from his house on Wednesday and subsequently took Kajal into custody.
Police Investigation Reveals Key Testimony in Alleged Suicide Case
Police have uncovered inconsistencies in the circumstances surrounding an alleged suicide case. During the investigation, Kajal admitted her involvement and implicated Umesh, the younger brother of the deceased, Sumit. This revelation was confirmed by SP (City) Abhishek Pratap Ajeya, who provided details during a press briefing.
