CID officials taking IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar to ACMM court on Monday
Sources in the department of personnel and administrative reforms (DPAR) said Gangwar was born in 1985 in Chamraua village in Nawabganj area of Bareilly district. After completing schooling in his home district, Gangwar secured admission to the prestigious IIT-Kanpur after clearing IIT-JEE examination and obtained a B.Tech degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2009. After years of preparation, he cleared the 2015 UPSC examination with an All India Rank of 314. In 2016, he was allotted the Karnataka cadre of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). In Feb 2024, Gangwar was posted as controller of examinations at Karnataka Public Service Commission, where he served until March 2026. In June 2026, he was appointed director of the department of micro, small and medium enterprises in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: From a small village in Uttar Pradesh and rising through the corridors of Karnataka’s bureaucracy, IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar’s career reflects a transition from engineering and the corporate world to public administration. After a brief stint in the corporate world as an engineer and consultant, Gangwar chose to pursue a career in public service. Gangwar began his bureaucratic career as an assistant commissioner in Bhalki, Bidar. He later served as CEO of Bidar zilla panchayat and was subsequently posted to the Administrative Training Institute, Mysuru, as joint director. He then served as joint managing director of Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board in Bengaluru and as managing director of Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation.
