Mumbai police have dismantled a fraudulent call centre, resulting in the registration of an FIR against 19 individuals. The accused allegedly contacted potential victims, falsely claiming to represent a company that had contracts with major e-commerce platforms and courier services. They offered franchises across the nation, promising that an investment would secure lifetime business opportunities with these firms.
The raid was carried out on Sept 2 at a commercial complex on Marve Road by Bangur Nagar Police. They came across 40 to 45 tele-callers seated in the office. Police said the accused had made franchise agreements with 22 individuals and cheated them of Rs 14.8 lakh.
