Meerut: A district vice-president of the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Moradabad has been charged with causing a public nuisance and obstructing a public way. The FIR was filed after he was reportedly found offering namaz on a road within the circuit house complex on Friday. This incident has raised concerns regarding public order and the appropriate use of public spaces.
Singh added that based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under BNS 285 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) and 292 (public nuisance). “Later, a video surfaced in which Usman, who is a close relative of Bilari MLA Mohammad Faheem Irfan, could be seen parking his vehicle on the pathway leading in and out of the circuit house and offering namaz (prayers) behind it…,” the FIR added. Reacting to the row, Usman said that it was a matter of worship and “he has not committed any crime”. A meeting was then organised at the congregation hall of the circuit house. Download the TOI App.
