Gorakhpur : Prof KP Singh, former vice-chancellor of Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, has been appointed the new VC of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDU-GU), bringing an end to speculation over an extension for incumbent VC Prof Poonam Tandon.
Prof Tandon’s three-year tenure as DDU-GU vice-chancellor ended on September 3. The appointment of Prof Singh was made by the governor in exercise of powers vested in her under Section 12(1) of the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973. Appointment of New University Leader in Uttar Pradesh
Anandiben Patel, the governor of Uttar Pradesh and chancellor of state universities, has appointed Prof Singh as the new head of a state university. This decision was made under Section 12(1) of the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973. Prof Singh’s term will commence upon his assumption of charge and will last for three years.
