HEAD: 24_Kol_SN_Rupak Youtuber arrested for cheating Howrah police hunt Youtuber over Manglahat cheap clothes scam Howrah: Howrah City Police’s cyber crime unit launched a search for a Youtuber and shop vlogger after a fake video claimed that expensive branded clothes were being sold for only 50/100 rupees at a shop in Manglahat, Howrah, leading to a scam in which nearly Rs 2 crore was fraudulently taken from multiple buyers. Detective police said the vlog falsely advertised jeans worth Rs 1,500/2,000 for just Rs 80, T-shirts worth Rs 2,500 for Rs 50, and women’s branded clothes worth Rs 1,500-5,000 for Rs 100/150 at a temporary stall named Akbar Dress Supplier in Manglahat. Police said Vijay lost Rs 50,000 in cash.
Police said this led to accusations of fraud against Miraj across the country. In his police complaint, Vijay said he contacted Miraj through the YouTube video to purchase shirts, jeans and women’s clothing. Police identified the YouTuber as Miraj Khan, a resident of Tikiapara, Howrah. A clothing businessman from Madhya Pradesh, Vijay Dubey, was scammed after watching the video on YouTube and travelling to Howrah to buy clothes from Miraj. Last Sunday, Vijay travelled to Howrah by the Jabalpur Humsafar Express and checked into a hotel as instructed by Miraj.
On Tuesday afternoon Miraj disappeared from in front of a clothing stall in Mangalhat while making a vlog, according to police.
