Nagpur: NCP (SP) Lok Sabha member Supriya Sule on Sunday said the state govt should implement Supreme Court ’s 10pm cut-off for DJs uniformly across Maharashtra instead of imposing an outright ban in some cities and looking away elsewhere.
Supporters of DJ have claimed students themselves are dancing in processions, “hence using them as a shield to impose a ban isn’t justified”. There is an order on decibel limit and that DJs must be shut off after 10pm,” she said. Citing the example of Nagpur, where police claimed to have ensured that noise limits while playing DJ were not breached, Sule said that instead of a ban, options that could fit within rules should be explored. This is not for any individual, it is for children, for hospitals, for senior citizens,” she said.
Sule drew a distinction. “There is no objection to dancing or to what anyone wants to do. The objection is about implementation. What does the Supreme Court’s order say? “If rules for DJ can work in Nagpur, why can’t the chief minister get this implemented across Maharashtra by personally overseeing it?
