Rescue operations underway at the Satya Niketan building collapse site
In a post on X, officials said, “Following a building collapse at Satya Niketan Market, South Campus, rescue and relief operations are underway. The collapse has claimed six lives, while Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the possibility of another person remaining trapped beneath the debris could not yet be ruled out. Sirsa said the condition and age of a neighbouring structure had made the operation more difficult.

Twelve people have been rescued so far, with the NDRF, Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police and other agencies continuing to clear the debris and search for anyone who may still be trapped. The collapse has also raised questions over the safety of buildings being used as paying guest accommodation and the enforcement of construction and fire safety rules in densely populated parts of Delhi.

The death toll rose to six after another body was recovered during rescue operations late on Sunday night.
