A case has been registered against the arrested accused and his wife, whose whereabouts are not known, under sections 74 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75(2) (sexual harassment) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 8, 9(f), 10 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. SP Tushar Doshi said the academy operator has been remanded to police custody till Sept 10. The molestation and sexual harassment began on June 11, according to the parents of the survivors.
“Efforts are on to arrest his wife,” he added. Police said the operator’s wife allegedly threatened the girls with expulsion from the academy if they disclosed the incidents to anyone. The case has been registered at Ashta police station. The couple also allegedly attempted to suppress the matter.
