ERO Sheetal Teli-Ugale at Solapur for SIR work ERO Sheetal Teli-Ugale at Solapur for SIR work ERO Sheetal Teli-Ugale at Solapur for SIR work ERO Sheetal Teli-Ugale at Solapur for SIR work Kolhapur: Pune divisional commissioner Sheetal Teli-Ugale, who has been appointed as ‘Electoral Roll Observer’ by ECI for the on-going Special Intensive Revision (SIR), has warned political representatives over submitting bulk applications to add names of electors, whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll published on Aug 31, adding that these applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.
The ERO directed that convenient locations should be selected for hearing claims and objections, and said that conducting a booth-wise hearing would be convenient for everyone. A district-level committee should be constituted for document verification, and conducting extensive public awareness through SVEEP initiatives,” Teli-Ugale said. The representatives of political parties demanded that members of a family should have votes registered at the same polling booth, upon which Teli-Ugale told officials to rationalise the polling booths in sync with ECI guidelines.
The officer has begun her three day visit to districts under Pune division. During the visit, she interacted with officials tasked with SIR work, political representatives and voters. “Claims and objections must be resolved promptly, and under no circumstances should bulk applications be accepted. Political representatives raised field-level issues, voter entry suggestions, and operational challenges encountered during the voter list revision process. The ERO insisted on a dedicated and systematic schedule prepared for conducting hearings on claims and objections received against the draft electoral roll.
She visited Solapur and Sangli on Tuesday, and will visit Kolhapur and Satara on Wednesday. She will then visit Pune on Thursday.
The ERO also said that rules must be strictly adhered to, while modifying or deleting names from the voter list, and that special vigilance is required to prevent the misuse of Form 7 and Form 8. The filing of claims and objections can be done till Sept 30, post which the hearing and disposal of claims will happen till Oct 29. The final voter list will be published on Nov 4, 2026.

“When deleting a deceased person’s name from the voter list, necessary action should be taken only after verifying the corresponding death certificate,” she said. “While serving hearing notices to concerned individuals, various available communication channels should be effectively utilised, including WhatsApp messages where necessary, to ensure timely delivery. During hearings, if any doubt arises regarding a voter’s citizenship status, relevant documents must be thoroughly verified. Along with maintaining accuracy in the electoral roll data, transparency in the overall process must be preserved. All authorities should secure data on the ERO dashboard,” added the official. Teli-Ugale also asked authorities to plan widespread awareness campaigns for new voter registrations, asking officials to visit colleges and register eligible students as voters, to boost first-time voters’ enrolment.
