Police said Kalpesh Prajapati, 40, went to confront his father, Kantilal, after the latter allegedly assaulted Kalpesh’s mother during the dispute on Tuesday. Police said the trouble began around 10.15am on Tuesday when Kantilal allegedly went near Madhu’s residence carrying a wooden stick and demanded money from her.
Police said Kalpesh later returned home and told his mother that Kantilal had abused him and refused to listen. The confrontation turned violent, with Kalpesh allegedly attacking him until he collapsed and later died. Kalpesh was traced and arrested in Kalol town in the evening. A quarrel broke out, during which he allegedly abused her and hit her on the leg with the stick. He then allegedly returned to the stall, picked up a wooden stick lying nearby and assaulted his father on the head and body.
Family had been living separately for 16 years
Kalpesh lived with his mother, Madhu, 60, at Sankalp Residency near Sudarshan Crossroads, according to Kalol City police. His wife and two daughters live in the US, while he returned to India around six months ago.
