Ankur Warikoo is a renowned entrepreneur, author, and content creator, well known for sharing advice on personal finance and productivity. Over the years, he has built a massive online following, largely by writing candidly about failure, ageing, money, and family, rather than sticking to polished success stories.

8 Sept 2026 | 15:33 We often hear parents say that no matter how much a child ages, they always remain children to them. 45, ma. 45? You are 45?”

But before achieving anything at all in his professional landscape, he is a son, father, and husband to his family, just like any ordinary man. Recently, Warikoo shared an emotional post on his social media account, sharing a moment when his mother was struck by a sudden realisation that her son was no longer a child. The post begins with a simple family dinner, a week after Warikoo’s birthday. Everyone had gone out to eat, and he was the one driving them all back home. As the family got out of the car, his mother was the last to step out, and right before she did, she asked him. Warikoo wrote on X, she asked, “Kitne saal ka ho gaya tu ab? I replied. She gasped.

He told her he had turned 45. The child she had carried for 9 months, gave birth to, fed, nurtured, cared for – was now 45 years old. And in that instant, something changed for her. She reacted with visible shock, repeating his age back to him as if she couldn’t quite process it. He further wrote, “It hit her hard. It seemed to me that in that moment she realized how old she was :)”, describing it as the moment his mother seemed to suddenly register her own age too, realising that the child she had carried, delivered, and raised was now well into middle age himself.

He wrote, “As a father of a 15yr old boy and 9-year-old girl, it brings me to tears thinking that one day they will get old.

One user wrote, “Mothers always have a way of saying the most meaningful things when we least expect it.”, Another added, “Beautiful perspective, @warikoo. A third user added, “I cried while reading”. What makes the post so relatable to the audience is that, beyond just being a sweet family anecdote, the second half, where Warikoo turns the lens on himself. And lose their childlike enthusiasm for the most trivial of things. Ma has reached that spot already that I dread to reach. He ended the post by pointing out that his mother has already arrived at the exact place he dreads reaching himself, the point where you watch your child become someone fully grown. Social media is overwhelmed, and numerous users have shared beautiful comments on the post. Time flies, but a parent never stops seeing their child as a child. Looking for trusted parenting advice?
