New Delhi: Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act after a four-year-old girl accused her school-cab driver of sexually abusing her in west Delhi ’s Ranhola. The accused is absconding and efforts are under way to trace him.
The incident comes weeks after a similar case was reported in outer Delhi’s Bawana, where a three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a school-cab driver.
The matter came to light after the child repeatedly refused to go to school, according to police. Police said statements are being recorded and details of the school’s transport arrangements are also being verified. Concerned by the change in her behaviour, her mother spoke to her, following which the girl allegedly disclosed that the cab driver had touched her inappropriately. The family approached police and lodged a complaint. The child was subsequently taken for a medical examination. Police had arrested the accused in that case following a complaint by the child’s family.
