He also announced that specialist doctors up to 70 years of age would be offered re-employment opportunities in govt hospitals to strengthen the availability of experienced medical professionals in the public health system.
He said the new facilities would help patients with serious and complex illnesses receive timely treatment within govt healthcare system. Pathak said similar arrangements would be expanded to other govt hospitals across the state by linking medical colleges with district hospitals to make specialist care available at the district level. The expansion will reduce the need for patients to travel repeatedly to tertiary institutions such as KGMU, RMLIMS and SGPGI for specialist consultations and treatment, while also easing the patient load on these centres, according to Pathak.
Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak inaugurated facilities, along with a stroke unit, neurosurgery ward and neurosurgery operation theatre at the hospital. Among those present at the inauguration were additional chief secretary (medical and health) Amit Kumar Ghosh, RMLIMS director Dr CM Singh and CMS Dr Devesh Chandra Pandey.
The services have been introduced under a collaboration between Civil Hospital and RMLIMS. Under the arrangement, specialist doctors from RMLIMS will provide consultation and treatment to patients at Civil Hospital. The initiative was developed under the leadership of Civil Hospital Director Dr G P Gupta.
Lucknow: Patients in the city and neighbouring districts will no longer have to depend entirely on tertiary-care hospitals for specialist neurological, kidney and cardiac consultations, with the launch of super speciality OPD services at SPM Civil Hospital on Thursday.
