OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored version of its AI chatbot aimed at banks, investment firms, and other financial institutions. This new product integrates financial data from various providers with GPT-6 Astra, enhancing capabilities in research, financial analysis, modeling, and client documentation.
The development of ChatGPT for Financial Services involved design partnerships with prominent firms such as Morgan Stanley and Evercore. These collaborations were instrumental in pinpointing how artificial intelligence can effectively support the daily operations of financial teams.
OpenAI said financial institutions interested in the product can contact the company or their account team The new product includes built-in financial data from providers including Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase. OpenAI said teams can use the data without setting up separate connectors or negotiating individual contracts for these datasets. OpenAI said a firm’s business data is not used to train its models by default.
ChatGPT for Financial Services is now available to eligible financial institutions. The data is indexed and hosted on OpenAI’s infrastructure. ChatGPT for Financial Services builds on security and governance features available with ChatGPT Enterprise. These include SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning and role-based access controls. Data is encrypted both at rest and in transit, while administrators can configure workspace retention. Compliance teams can also export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform for use in audit and investigation workflows. GPT-6 Astra powers financial analysis ChatGPT for Financial Services includes GPT-6 Astra for information retrieval, financial reasoning and creating documents and other work materials. In an OfficeQA Pro test cited by OpenAI, GPT-6 Astra scored 69.9%, compared with 60.2% for GPT-5.6 Sol and 62.4% for Claude Fable 5.1.
OpenAI said the model can work with figures, tables and notes in financial documents. The system also provides detailed citations, allowing users to trace figures and claims back to specific tables and passages in source material. It can also use financial information to perform analysis and create outputs such as spreadsheets, documents and presentations. The test checks how AI systems find and analyse information in US Treasury Bulletins, including financial tables, charts and footnotes.
