Police on Thursday evening arrested a 28-year-old man who allegedly snatched the cash from bank staff after throwing chilli powder at them. The incident took place around 5.30pm when bank officers and employees withdrew cash from an ATM and were entering the branch.
The accused approached them from behind, threw chilli powder at the staff and grabbed the cash before fleeing, according to police. The incident, which triggered panic among employees at a bank in Bhande Plot, was caught on camera. The police team managed to nab the suspect and recover the looted cash. The arrested accused has been identified as Suraj Borkar, a resident of Tatoli in Bhivapur tehsil of Nagpur rural. The CCTV footage of the incident, showing the accused covering his face with a white cloth and throwing chilli powder at the bank staff, has since gone viral on social media.
