More than 45 aspirants were in the race to become the district Congress president. My priority is to strengthen the party at ward level to ensure that our party will defeat BJP and come to the power in 2027-28 HDMC election. Through the ward-level membership drive targeting youth (Gen Z), we aim to register at least 100 new members. Three committees will be constituted to monitor the drive, he said, and added that newly enrolled members will be trained for 1-3 months.
Danganavar, the new president of Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagar Zilla Committee, told TOI: “Our party has lost the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) election and failed to come to power for the past two decades.
“Training programmes will cover party ideals, organisational structure, contribution of the party and other details,” he said. AICC has appointed Sadanand V Danganavar as the president of Hubballi-Dharwad City (Hubballi-Dharwad Mahanagar Zilla) Congress Committee and Chandrashekhar Juttal as the president of District Rural Congress Committee. Danganavar also served as Youth Congress president, KPCC general secretary, NWKRTC president and also served in different capacities in the party for more than three decades. Observers appointed by AICC had a tough time in finalising the right candidates. BJP is managing to win the election and rule the HDMC now. “I will not waste a single day but will be involved in strengthening the party involving party workers and local leaders. I also want to focus on youth (Gen Z) to include in our party fold. We also have advantage of our govt’s welfare programmes and five guarantees which have already reached the common man to bring the party to power. I have started ground work to prepare our party workers and leaders to achieve this goal,” he added.
