The development came after the court issued him a show-cause notice on July 8 for allegedly violating a stay order passed on Sept 4 last year.
In the affidavit filed on Aug 29, principal secy RK Sudhanshu said he held the court in high regard and “cannot imagine violating or disobeying HC’s orders”. Dehradun: Principal secretary (forest) has filed an affidavit in Uttarakhand HC, tendering an unconditional apology in a contempt case arising from the transfer of IFS officer Pankaj Kumar .
The contempt proceedings are yet to be closed as Kumar has filed a review petition alleging errors in the dates recorded in the high court’s July 13, 2026, order in his main transfer case. Kumar was transferred again on April 13 this year as conservator of forests, Southern Kumaon circle and the high court extended its stay order in May. He tendered the unconditional apology in case HC concluded his actions amounted to contempt and requested the closure of the proceedings and discharge of the contempt notice issued against him. He subsequently filed a contempt petition.
