WAYANAD: Police have launched a detailed probe after a 20-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a relative’s house in Periya here, officials said on Sunday. Aleena was found dead at a relative’s house in Kavungal tribal colony in Periya on the morning of September 11, police said. Aleena had reached the relative’s house only three days before her death and was seen behaving normally on September 10, according to police.
Police said the relatives, in their statements, had not raised any suspicion regarding the death. It was neighbours who alleged that black magic had been performed on the woman, police said. Officials at the Thalappuzha police station said the body was handed over to relatives after postmortem, but the report has not yet been received to ascertain the cause of death. Police said the case has currently been registered for unnatural death.
