Jansen will join the South African camp in Durban on September 19 ahead of the series opener. Baartman subsequently played in the Major League Cricket in June and July before returning to competitive cricket for the Dolphins in their opening CSA 4-Day Series Division 1 fixture against the Titans this week. The left-arm seamer made his ODI debut against Namibia and immediately made an impact, finishing with figures of 4/31 in the second match of the three-game series. South Africa have recalled Gerald Coetzee, who has not played an ODI since the 2023 World Cup. The three-match ODI series between South Africa and Australia will begin on September 24 in Durban. The second ODI will be played in Johannesburg on September 27, before the series concludes in Potchefstroom on September 30.

Jansen, meanwhile, has been rewarded for his impressive performances during South Africa’s ongoing limited-overs campaign. Baartman’s injury adds to South Africa’s concerns in the pace department, with Kagiso Rabada also unavailable as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury. Anrich Nortje was not considered for selection, while the other pace options in the squad include Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch. The combination will now face a major test against an Australian batting line-up in home conditions.
