FIR against woman for hot-oil attack on hubby, Rs 5L jewellery theft and remarriage

Kanpur: An FIR was registered against a woman and two others in Kannauj on Saturday evening after her husband accused her of pouring boiling mustard oil on him while he was asleep, taking jewellery worth about Rs 5 lakh and remarrying without obtaining a divorce.

Ramesh , a resident of Ishampur village under Saurikh police station, alleged that his wife, Sushila Devi, poured hot mustard oil on him while he was asleep at home on the night of May 25, leaving him seriously burnt. Ramesh said he visited Kakraiya on June 1 and asked Sushila to return the jewellery and accompany him. Police took him to a community health centre and later referred him to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur after his condition deteriorated. Ramesh alleged that during his treatment, Sushila took the jewellery and married Ramsevak, a resident of Kakraiya village. Rajesh, a resident of Gorakhpur village under Saurikh police station, allegedly acted as a middleman in the marriage and accepted money. He alleged that the three accused abused him and threatened to kill him. He approached the court after police allegedly failed to act on his complaint.

The FIR was registered on a court order on Wednesday, SHO Nagendra Singh Chaudhary said.
