In SWR’s Bengaluru division, 36 sahayaks have been allocated to six stations—KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur, SMVT, Kengeri, KR puram and Bangarapet—have identified for the scheme. The service was initially provided at KSR Bengaluru from Oct 2025 on a pilot basis. It was later extended to all in June 2026, with each zone permitted to select up to 10 stations. TOI had first reported on July 14 that the railways were planning to expand the scheme in other Bengaluru stations to reduce queuing at limited ticket counters. More than 25,000 unreserved tickets are sold daily in KSR Bengaluru alone. For a journey ticket up to 150km, the vendors will pocket 3% of the fare. The share will be reduced to 2% if the journey is between 150 and 500km. For any journey above 500km, the commission will only be 1% of the fare.

Bengaluru: After becoming the first railway zone in the country to implement the Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System (M-UTS) sahayak services at KSR Bengaluru, the South Western Railway (SWR) has now expanded it to all major railway stations in Bengaluru. Ten sahayaks have been selected already and letters of acceptance (LOAs) have been issued to them, SWR stated. The remaining seven will be commissioned shortly. The sahayaks carry a smartphone and a bluetooth printer connected to it. Passengers can either pay by cash or UPI directly to them who can provide unreserved tickets for all trains and platform tickets. Railways will reward sahayaks on a commission model based on the number of tickets sold and the journey length. Download the TOI App.
Two sahayaks have been already deployed at SMVT from Thursday and one at Yeshwantpur station on Friday.
