A record 420 weddings were conducted at Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple on Sunday
Thrissur : A record 420 marriages were solemnised at Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple on Sunday, surpassing the previous high of 416 weddings recorded on Aug 23. The ceremonies began around 4am and continued until 12.30pm. A total of 443 weddings had been registered for the day, including 21 spot bookings, but some couples did not turn up for various reasons.

Weddings were conducted continuously, except during the intervals when the temple sanctum was closed for the ‘usha puja’ and ‘pantheeradi puja’. Despite the record number of weddings, the darshan for devotees proceeded smoothly. Devaswom staff and the police worked in coordination to ensure the ceremonies were conducted without disruption. Personnel from the fire and rescue services, health department and Guruvayur municipality also extended support. Download the TOI App.
