Kochi : A two-day national seminar on school education, focusing on changes needed to prepare students for the future, will be held in Kochi on Sept 18 and 19.
The seminar, titled SANKALP 2047 – Evolving EduVision 2047, is being organised by National Council of CBSE Schools (NCCS) in collaboration with Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK).
The discussions will focus on integrating AI literacy, critical thinking, creativity, innovation, digital responsibility and future skills into education, said the organisers. The event will bring together school heads, educationists, policymakers, scientists and technology and academic experts from various states, said Indira Rajan, national chairperson of SANKALP National Education Seminar. The role of schools in promoting physical and mental health, empathy, resilience and responsible citizenship will also be examined.
Education minister N Samsudheen will inaugurate the event at 11am on Sept 18. On Sept 19, chief minister V D Satheesan will inaugurate the official session. The seminar will discuss artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, climate change and sustainability, health and wellbeing, sports, values-based education, leadership, curriculum, assessment, teacher empowerment and nation-building. Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden, CBSE controller of examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj, director of Unesco Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) Obijiofor Aginam, Southern Naval Command vice admiral Sameer Saxena and inspector general of police Putta Vimaladitya are among those scheduled to lead sessions. Kerala High Court Justice Devan Ramachandran will speak on the transformation of schools. Other speakers include Ernakulam district collector Priyanka G, CBSE affiliation director Jaiprakash Chaturvedi, IIM director Debashis Chatterjee and Telangana Sports University vice-chancellor G Kishore. The seminar will also feature panel discussions with experts from NCERT, artificial intelligence, technology, Google, curriculum development and other education-related fields, Rajan added.
