Lucknow : Praising Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences for transparent and fair recruitment, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that even one wrong decision would have cost the institute for years.
These included a 40-bed emergency ward and a waiting hall with a capacity for 100 patients at Maternal and Child Hospital. Talking about improvements in health services in the state, CM said free dialysis facilities, with 10 beds each, had been started at district hospitals across all 75 districts. He said that in 1905, Japan developed a vaccine for encephalitis, but it took 100 years for the vaccine to reach India. In contrast, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Indian scientists developed two vaccines in just nine months. India not only provided free vaccines to its citizens but also supplied them to nearly 100 countries. He said that in light of changing disease patterns, medical institutions need to think 10 steps ahead.
He also released two books and the institute’s annual progress report.
He said the biggest challenge facing govt now was reducing long waiting lists for serious treatments, including kidney transplants. Calling on medical institutions to link treatment with research, innovation and technology, CM said Western countries were presenting research papers based on Indian data, while India had failed to preserve its own data. He said India’s medical data needs to be preserved to develop healthcare facilities suited to Indian conditions. “Only when healing, learning and discovery move forward together can an institution truly become a centre of excellence,” he said.
Funds for the treatment of those in need are being provided through Ayushman Bharat, CM’s Jan Arogya Yojana, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Cashless Treatment Scheme and CM Relief Fund.
