Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad police have acted against 2,500 criminals on record and externed 53 from the district ahead of the Ganapati festival as a preventive measure.

“To avoid any untoward incident during the festival, we would be taking constant preventive action against criminals on police records,” Pawar said. Pimpri Chinchwad police are also keeping a close watch on social media posts. The police have appealed to all group admins on social media platforms to monitor messages posted in their groups.
